Potential Client Questions

1) How will you ensure your online copy is just as successful as your printed?

As the magazine will be featured online it will also be the cheaper option therefore hopefully it would attract an increasing demographic as my target audience are young and thus may not have a sustainable income. Not only that but the online copy has features which are not reachable on the hard copy such as an exclusive video of the new trailer to the upcoming North London Christmas romance movie.  As well as this I believe the online version will be successful as it is good for the environment due to not using paper; illustrating an ethical advantage surrounding my magazine.

2) Why have you chosen to create a Christmas edition over a regular romance magazine?

This specific magazine will be a Christmas edition as I believe it will increase the profits due to a mass proportion of people in North London who celebrate this holiday. This product can be something that people enjoy reading during their time off of school or work as they will have lots of free time to feel the sense of escapism. It will give them a chance to sit down and enjoy a classic reading of romance that is portrayed during Christmas time.

3) How do you plan on getting the magazine into stores while it's still relatively small?

I plan for my magazine to begin small, meaning as I try to begin to promote it I will ensure that it will be sold in smaller shops such as newsagents - which would be relatively cheap to sell to. Once my magazine has been established I will approach small social media influencers to promote my product within their platforms which will gain me more customers; as my target audience are familiar with technology and the social media industry. When I reach a stage where I gain a larger consumer base I will approach big chain supermarkets such as M&S and propose my pitch for my product to be sold in their shops.

4) Is my magazine flexible?

My magazine will be flexible to ensure my customers can feel comfortable when purchasing a subscription or a single copy. The annual magazine subscription is £35.99 and customers can easily sign up on our website with an email address and a credit card in order for them to be charged. The monthly subscription is £3.50 with the first two months free, and has the same sign up process as the annual subscription. If customers wish to cancel the subscription I will ensure that this process will be quick and easy for them. All they must do is click 'cancel subscription' and click either 'yes' or 'no.' This illustrates that my magazine is flexible as the purchasing process of my product hasn't been overcomplicated.

5) Why have you decided to create two USPs?

The reasoning behind creating two USPs is to attract readers to my subscription in order for them to gain access to the second USP. The first USP is available to anyone who purchases a magazine; thus creating entertainment for those who have bought a copy. However in order to be able to enter a competition for a 'day in a life' on a film set, they must have subscribed to my product. The notation that two USPs create is that profit will increase as subscription purchases will rise because many people will want to have a chance to be part of the second USP.

6) How have you priced your subscriptions so it is affordable for your target audience?

My pricing for my magazine and the subscriptions, I feel has a positive outlook for my target audience. Since my target audience is directed at young adults and teenagers (12-25 years old) I have priced my magazine with the information that this age category may not have sustainable jobs and may rely on pocket money or part-time job income; establishing that they cannot afford to pay lots of money. This is highly reflective of my demographic and may end up making my magazine successful as I am respectful of my consumers financial situations.

7) How will you use social media effectively when marketing the product?

I will use a social media platform to keep the consumers of my magazine updated as my target audience would be fully aware of social media platforms as my primary target audience is 12-18. I will do this through posting 'sneak peeks' of nearly released articles which will be present in new magazines. Additionally, on the account there will be cast dialogues; meaning the members present in the independent upcoming film will post their filming process. This will most definitely entice my consumers as it will make them want to buy next editions; as well as perhaps following our social media platforms to then further hear new updates.
